Did you ever wonder?

Did you ever wonder how you materials arrive at interlibrary loan? Well, if you have here are some photos to show you the process. This process is for all items borrowed from libraries in Illinois.

First, you order the item on I-Share. https://i-share.carli.illinois.edu/uc/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&PAGE=First

The library prints the request and searches for it from their selves. Once located, the item is then in route to WIU. The item is placed in a bag on the Illinois Library Delivery System (ILDS).

ILDS is a state delivery system that began in 1965 to deliver library materials through out the State of Illinois.

Here is a delivery truck pulling in to WIU.

Delivery is 5 days a week in the morning. Your materials are processed by 4:30pm and ready for pickup at the circulation desk on the day they arrive.

Did you ever wonder? Materials arriving and processed

Here is Bob the route driver. He delivers your items in all kinds of weather - rain, sleet, or snow.

Here are the bags after Bob has unloaded them and delivered them to WIU ILL.
The next step is to open the bags and place materials on the cart for processing.

Did you wonder how your items get to WIU ILL?

Here, Kate is processing the items that came from the ILDS bags. These materials are checked in and a purple book mark is placed in the book with the customer's name.

Once all the books have been processed they are taken to circulation and placed on the shelf for you to pickup. Vamsi is placing today's incoming items on the shelf in circulation.

Emails are automatically generated to you or check your 'My Account' to see an item has arrived.
